Now, an 8 hour bus ride, a 3 hour border crossing, and a 12 hour train ride later we are in Chiang Mai, Thailand!!! The travel day was definitely a challenge but the bus and train window views were phenomenal. We’re living in a hostel right above a coffee shop. Therefore, I get a 15% off coffee at least once a day. Just in case you were worried I would starve, know that I’m doing the very opposite. Food in Thailand (as well as Cambodia) is amazing!!!!! And it’s cheap.

The coffee shop we’re living over is actually a ministry that aims to reach victims of sex trafficking. There are several ministries connected to the coffee shop and our team has the privilege to serve in two of these ministries. Our team has divided into two smaller groups. One group works with women who are either still in prostitution or have come out. The other group, my group, works on the preventive side of sex trafficking, which means we work with children, youth, and young adults before prostitution is even an option for them. We have only gotten our feet a little wet in this ministry. Next time, I’ll have more to share about what God is doing. However, meeting our new ministry leaders and the coffee shop staff has been a blessing.

Listening to their stories of how God has brought them to Thailand is so encouraging. For the past couple of years I’ve been hearing God’s call to missions but it’s always felt like it would be impossible. Listening to their stories reminds me that all it takes is the willingness to go when and where God calls. Meeting active missionaries in person has made my desire to “go” so much more realistic, tangible, and not some crazy huge dream that I’ll never reach. If this truly is God’s will for my life, I am confident that he will open the doors like he already has.

Thanks for reading!! Ok I love you, bye!!!
